About this product
Most houseplants die for one of two reasons: too much water, or being forgotten. Gulakanm gives each plant its own watering interval and counts down to it — but it does more than that.
The light meter uses your phone's light sensor. You calibrate it once outdoors in daylight: the app knows how strong the sun is in your city at that moment and compares it with what your phone reports. From then on the readings are corrected for that particular device, so it can tell you whether a spot suits a given plant, and what would grow well there.
Where you live is taken into account too. If it has rained, it tells you to wait; in a heatwave, to water sooner. Each plant is marked as indoors or outdoors, so the advice only reaches the plants it should.
The app is in English and Kurdish (Sorani).
Features
Light meter
Measures how much light a spot in your home actually gets, using the phone's light sensor. You calibrate it once outdoors, and from then on the readings are corrected for your own device — so it can say whether a spot suits a given plant.
Watering reminders
Each plant has its own watering interval, and a notification arrives when one needs water — with sleeping hours respected. On Android a home-screen widget shows which plants need watering right now.
Weather-aware watering
You set your city and the app checks the current weather: it will tell you to wait if it has rained, or to water sooner in a heatwave. Indoor and outdoor plants are treated separately.
Plant library
For each plant: watering in summer and winter, light needs, sun exposure, the best place to put it, soil type, feeding, disease protection, humidity and temperature, with extra notes and photographs.
Growth journal
Add a photo of a plant over time and see how it has grown.
Watering history
Every watering is recorded — per plant, and across all of them.
Request a plant
If a plant is not in the library, you can ask for it to be added.
